On May 21, hundreds of vintage Volkswagen cars will motor into historic Ypsilanti, Michigan for the 29th Annual Vintage Volkswagen Festival. This is an event that Volkswagen lovers and historic car enthusiasts alike will enjoy!
The event kicks off with a group cruise from beautiful Riverside Park in Ypsilanti to the Yankee Air Museum in Belleville (the latter being a historical gem housing wartime aircrafts and exhibits). At the Museum, the automobiles will participate in a slow speed slalom race before the group heads back to Riverside Park to enjoy music from the Magic Bus Band (expect to hear your favorite hits from the 1960s and 1970s) and a Volkswagen auto show during the concert. There will also be tasty treats available for purchase while guests enjoy the music and the cars.
Automobile aficionados will find lots to love in Ypsilanti this summer! Additional shows include the Camaro Superfest (6/30-7/3), Willow Run Victory Car Show (8/7) and the Ton-Up Motorcycle and Music Festival (8/13). With a rich automotive history, Ypsilanti is a hotspot for car buffs. Check out the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum while you’re there, and don’t forget to head east to the 1940s era Willow Run Airport to view the exhibits at the Yankee Air Museum. Starting on June 2, you can also experience Depot Town Cruise Nights every Thursday, when historic cars will gather in the trendy Depot Town neighborhood for a cruise around town.
