Aug 01, 2017

Join us Labor Day Weekend, September 2-4. Tickets are still available — kids 15 & under are free!

Regarded as one of the best warbird shows in the world, Thunder Over Michigan is prepared to increase the action, adventure, and aircrafts at the 2017 event. For the first time, Thunder Over Michigan has extended its program by an entire day — turning this two-day spectacular event into a three-day extravaganza!

And all three days will be full of thrilling displays of aeronautic delights — just check out the list of performers:

U.S. Navy Blue Angels Return with their F/A-18 Hornets

The renowned United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron returns to the Historic Willow Run airport for a series of captivating performances focused on speed, precision, and daring maneuvers.

United States Navy C-130 “Fat Albert”

This U.S. Marine Corps C-130 Hercules airlifter, affectionately known as the Fat Albert, is the team’s support plane. It will also fly during solo performances at Thunder Over Michigan, demonstrating the surprising nimbleness of the four-turboprop transport.

Air Adventures in Historic Aircraft

What if you could step back in time and experience firsthand what shaped the future of our country? During Thunder Over Michigan, you can! Take an unforgettable flight of a lifetime on one of Yankee Air Museum’s vintage aircraft.

Acrobatics and Wing Walkers

Two Thunder Over Michigan performers will defy gravity this year. First is Matt Youkin’s unusual act in a Beech 18. While never designed for aerobatic flight, Younkin navigates gracefully through the air, executing maneuvers that will shock and awe airshow audiences. Next is Greg Shelton’s 1943 Super Stearman. This aircraft first served with the U.S. Navy as an N2S-3 as a primary trainer during WWII. Today, this colorful and entertaining aircraft soars through the air with the equally entertaining Ashley Shelton perched atop the biplane’s wings!

WWII Air and Ground Battle Reenactment

One of the fun features of Thunder Over Michigan are the WWII reenactments that take place each day. This year the reenactment will include the largest paratroop drop in the world! Don’t miss this incredible attraction and the remaking of history.
