Do you love the pounding of pavement under your feet? Have you set a marathon goal for 2016? If so, consider registering for the Ann Arbor Marathon on April 3! This annual event brings over 2,000 running enthusiasts from all over the world, and is sure to be as successful and fun as ever. Athletes ages range from 1 to 80, and there are several different races to choose from – the full marathon, the half marathon, the 10K and the 5K.
The course is hilly, beautiful, and covers many beautiful and popular running areas in Ann Arbor, including Gallup Park, Nichols Arboretum, Geddes Road, and Downtown. This year, the Ann Arbor Running Company will provide pacers – non-participant runners that help athletes reach their goal times.
The Ann Arbor Marathon, an annual event which began in 2012, is an impactful fundraiser for local not-for-profit organizations as well. The Official Featured Charities for 2016 are Team RWB (Ann Arbor Chapter), JDRF (Southeast Michigan Chapter), The Kite Network, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor and SafeHouse Center. In past years, up to $23,000 has been raised by athletes for local not-for-profit organizations.
