The 37th Ann Arbor Folk Festival takes place on January 31 and February 1 at The Ark on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor.  A major fundraiser for The Ark, the annual Ann Arbor Folk Festival brings together a lineup of outstanding performers for two days.  With headliners such as Iron & Wine, Neko Case, Patty Griffin, Ingrid Michaelson and Jeff Daniels, this is a show not to be missed.  The Ark, the beneficiary of the funds raised at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, puts on over 300 folk, roots and ethnic music performances each year.

Some of the great acts performing at the Folk Festival will be returning later this year to The Ark.  Plan you trip to see them live!

Willie Nile, March 28
Big Sandy, April 4
Johnnyswim, April 5

Appleseed Collective, April 19
Pearl and the Beard, April 26
Seth Walker, May 30

You'll also want to look ahead to February for some more excellent shows!

The first show on The Ark’s stage for February will be on the 4th when legendary wizards of the Hawaiian slack key guitar, George Kahumoku & Ledward Kaapana bring their warm vibe into our chilly, Michigan February.

February at The Ark is also a time of some annual traditions.  Yiddishe Cup brings their special brand of klezmer and humor back to our stage on Saturday the 8th.  And what’s February without Valentines?   Our 9th Annual “My Folky Valentine” takes place on Thursday, February 13, and celebrates love and marriage in music with Canadian folk-grass from The Laws, Doug and Telisha Williams of the Nashville-based Wild Ponies, and our hosts and local favorites Annie and Rod Capps.

And February is also time for our 27th Annual Storytelling Festival.  It’s our annual celebration of the story and this year’s tellers are national storytellers Donna Washington and Tim Tingle, and local teller Jane Fink.  The Festival includes an adult spoken word evening on Saturday, February 15 and a family and kid-centric afternoon performance on Sunday, February 16.
