As excitement builds for the return of the International Champions Cup to Michigan Stadium, downtown Ann Arbor is set to host an outdoor celebration to kick-off the weekend. Headlining the event is Ann Arbor native, and recent finalist on NBC's "The Voice," Laith Al-Saadi.
And audiences cannot wait to hear Laith's distinct voice and legendary guitar skills reverberate throughout Main Street.
The downtown event welcomes fans from across the globe who are traveling to Ann Arbor for the International Champions Cup — an annual summer soccer tournament played across North America, Australia, Europe and China, featuring 10 of the best clubs in the world. As part of the tournament, Chelsea F.C (England) and Real Madrid C.F. (Spain) will face off at Michigan Stadium on July 30 at 3pm. Tickets remain available at MGoBlue.com.
This will be the second time an outdoor concert hosted by the Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has kicked off the International Champions Cup weekend. Michigan Stadium hosted its first International Champions Cup in 2014, with Manchester United (England) defeating Real Madrid (Spain) in front of a record-breaking crowd. At the 2014 Friday night event, an estimated 20,000 people came out to experience the vibrant and festive downtown area.
Live music will begin at 5pm Friday, July 29 at the corner of Washington and Main Street. Other performers include The Stellars (Indie/Rock) and Third Coast Kings (Funk/Blues) with music between sets by DJ Nicole Myint.
