Since 1992, Nawal Motawi and her staff of creative artisans have been making handmade ceramic art tile in a studio just west of downtown Ann Arbor. The unique tiles are used for decoration and for installations such as fireplaces, kitchen backsplashes, floors and bathrooms.
The tiles are in homes and public buildings nationwide and are available at over 300 shops and galleries across the country.
At least ten sets of hands touch each tile as it is made. Come see this amazing process in person! Motawi Tileworks offers a free public tour every Thursday morning at 11.
Can't make it in person? Check out this short video for an inside look at Motawi Tileworks.
