NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, has named Ann Arbor one of the best towns in Michigan for young families.

Michigan boasts high-performing school districts and a beautiful environment offering a myriad of family activities, especially along the state’s vast lakeshores. The state has many excellent communities for young couples looking to settle down and start a family.

NerdWallet sought to better inform young families and parents-to-be by analyzing towns across the state according to five criteria:

  1. Public school ratings
  2. Median home value
  3. Cost of homeownership
  4. Median income
  5. Economic growth

NerdWallet ranked Ann Arbor seventh after assessing the town’s cost of living, education system, and economic growth. The town’s school district is among the best rated in the state, and it has the second highest economic growth rate of all the towns in the top ten.

“As the home of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor offers residents a lively community spirit with a plethora of great activities from sporting events to cultural gatherings” said NerdWallet analyst Mike Anderson. “The town also offers jobs in high-tech research and development.”
