March 2019 Event Roundup

Feb 27, 2019

Spring is just around the corner, and so are some of our favorite events.  In case March comes in like a lion, there’s a variety of indoor performances, shopping, and sporting events to choose from.  Test your luck around St. Patrick’s Day and join in on the fun during the Shamrocks and Shenanigans run, or spend some time exploring the festivities at area bars and restaurants.  Follow the rainbow to the pot of gold—a treasure, otherwise known as Ann Arbor area events in March.  Below are just a few events happening during the month, though you can click here for an exhaustive list of upcoming March events.

Be sure to follow Destination Ann Arbor on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest for tons of travel information and area updates.

Old Time Maple Sugar Festival

March 9th

It’s time for that traditional rite of spring – tapping maple trees. At the Eddy Discovery Center in Chelsea, watch a short film about how maple syrup is made, and then go on a guided walk to see various methods of collecting sap and how it is boiled down to make syrup. Antique equipment for making syrup will be on display from the Waterloo Farm Museum, and maple products will be available for purchase.

Ann Arbor Film Festival

March 26th – March 31st

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America, founded by George Manupelli in 1963. The Film Festival receives more than 3,000 submissions annually from more than 65 countries and serves as one of a handful of Academy Award®-qualifying festivals in the United States.  The six-day festival presents 40 programs with more than 180 films of all lengths and genres, including experimental, animation, documentary, fiction, and performance-based works.

DO (something)

March 28th

The conference for those who (want to, need to, try to, can) do. Designers, artists, photographers, developers, creatives and entrepreneurs.... It’s time to stop messing around and do what you’ve always wanted to do.  Spend the day in Ypsilanti being inspired, encouraged, and supported by creative leaders and fellow doers. There are no more excuses!
