Celebrating Halloween in the Ann Arbor Area

Oct 19, 2016

Whether you love Halloween for the costumes, treats, or the scares — there are plenty of events throughout the area where you can celebrate your way! Who says that costume is only good one day a year?

ypsiGLOW is going to turn Ypsilanti streets luminescent! Kicking-off it's inaugural year on Thursday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m., this community event is brought to you by the same creative minds who coordinate FoolMoon and FestiFools. Join local artists, businesses, organizations and community leaders for interactive art, live music, street performances, and more! Need help creating your own illuminating gear? Join one of the pre-event workshops to build floats, luminaria, and neon clothing!

Celebrate Halloween amongst the dinosaurs at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. On Sunday, October 30 from noon to 5 p.m., the entire family can discover spooky stations and displays full of hands-on activities, live animals, and more! The party is free — no reservations or tickets necessary. Don’t forget to bring your goody bag!

Now in its 16th year, the Downtown Ann Arbor Halloween Treat Parade is a great place to bring your little ghouls and goblins for some costumed fun! On October 31 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., area merchants with black and orange balloons will pass out treats. Check out a full list of participating merchants here. Get an early start and head to the Ann Arbor District Library on S. Fifth Ave. for a Halloween Party in the first-floor lobby. This year you can choose to attend from 10:30 – 11 p.m. or from Noon – 12:30 p.m. Come in costume for stories, puppets and trick-or-treats.
