Ann Arbor Area November Events Round-Up

Oct 27, 2017

As the days grow shorter and a layer of frost greets us in the mornings, November launches us into the holiday season. Plan a visit to the Ann Arbor area to embrace the remaining days of autumn, join in the thrill of one of college football's greatest rivalries, and get a head start on your holiday shopping in Ann Arbor's neighboring communities.

Be sure to follow Visit Ann Arbor on Facebook, TwitterInstagram, and Pinterest for tons of travel information and area updates.

Saline Craft Show. Check out this juried annual craft show that benefits both patrons and the local community! An array of crafters – representing more than 15 states, and more than 100 Michigan cities – will display and sell their wares. You’ll find everything from pottery to jewelry, as well as seasonal items; and with the holidays on the horizon, it’s a great opportunity to kick off your shopping. November 11, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Saline Middle School, 7190 N. Maple Rd. in Saline. $5 admission.

Wine, Women & Shopping. For this annual events, Chelsea businesses bring women together from all over Michigan and officially kick-off the holiday season, with this annual event. Visitors can explore a variety of shops (some of which will feature special sales and discounts), restaurants, and local artists’ booths, along with trunk shows, demonstrations, and complimentary snacks in some stores throughout the day. Participating restaurants, meanwhile, will offer specialty menu items, wine tastings, and live music. November 11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., in downtown Chelsea.

New York Philharmonic UMS residency. The New York Philharmonic is returning for its second major UMS residency in Ann Arbor, focusing this time on Leonard Bernstein, the celebrated former New York Philharmonic music director and composer who was born 100 years ago. The weekend’s first concert will highlight the music of Gustav Mahler, whose music Bernstein championed; the second will re-create one of Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts; and the third concert will be led by DSO music director Leonard Slatkin and will feature work by Richard Strauss (Don Quixote, Op. 35), and Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony. In addition to these concerts, master classes, lectures, and workshops will occur throughout the weekend. November 17-19; all concerts at Hill Auditorium, 825 N. University Ave., Ann Arbor. Concert tickets cost $25-$140.

U-M vs. OSU at Michigan Stadium. While recovering from turkey-induced sleepiness (and possibly stressful family time), you can watch one of the oldest and biggest rivalries in college football live when these two storied Big Ten teams – the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State University Buckeyes – go head-to-head on Saturday, November 25th at noon in Michigan Stadium.
