The Puck Drops Here

Join us for 'The Puck Drops Here', a New Year's Eve 'puck drop' on the streets of downtown! Ring in the New Year in downtown Ann Arbor!  Enjoy 6 hours of live entertainment starting at 8:00pm.

Interested in being an Event Ambassador during the New Year's Eve Street Party?

The AAACVB is looking for 30 volunteers to serve as Event Ambassadors during the New Year’s Eve Street Party. Volunteers will help people with directions and answer questions. Ambassador program details include:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Check-in on December 31 between 7-8pm (location TBD) and stay until 1am
  • Attend one of two training sessions at the AAACVB office
  • Training #1: Thursday, December 19 at 5:30pm
  • Training #2: Saturday, December 21 at 10am
  • Dress warmly! The AAACVB will provide an official ‘The Puck Drops Here; hat but volunteers will be outside for extended periods and should dress appropriately.

In addition, volunteers will be entered into a drawing to win various gift cards and other items as a thank you for their participation. The drawing will occur at 1am and ambassadors will need to be present to claim the item.

Additional Information about the event:

The headlining musical entertainment artist will be Michelle Chamuel, star of 'The Voice' and former Ann Arborite.  Chamuel will perform with Tyler Duncan and their band, S/HE. Chamuel, who also performs under her electronic alias The Reverb Junkie, recently released her first solo album titled "All I Want." The night will also feature DJs Robert Lux, Ross Federman, Scout and live drumming from Mike Shea. Matthew Altruda, host of on Ann Arbor'S 107.1 will be the master of ceremonies for The Puck Drops Here.

Local design and fabrication studio METAL is constructing the puck to descend at midnight. “In keeping with the theme of the event, we will actually be lowering a 10-foot puck lit with 6,000 LED lights,” says METAL visionary John Walters. There will be a lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. to kick off the event.
