Great Top Spin-Off at Yourist Studio Gallery

The Great Top Spin-off at the Yourist Studio Gallery will take place at high noon on Saturday, June 2, 2012. This event is open to everyone - regardless of age or experience with clay. It is an ideal activity for the whole family. To participate, design and make your own ceramic top (no raw clay tops, please). Glaze your won top or decorate it in any way you please. Keep your top spinning the longest, and you'll win the spin-off championship. There will also be a prize for the most creatively designed and decorated top. To register, call the Yourist Studio Gallery at (734) 662-4914. Registration is free.

22nd Annual Ann Arbor Garden Walk
Various homes throughout Ann Arbor
Meet homeowner gardeners and be inspired by their labors of love. A quiet, flower-filled courtyard, a city lot overflowing with edibles, and lush beds surrounding a historic home, the gardens on the 2012 Garden Walk promise eye-catching ideas and colorful surprises.
Participating members of the Ann Arbor Women Artists group will present a sale of original artworks created from the 2012 gardens over the past year, capturing the beauty of these unique landscapes. A Garden Marketplace, presented by Artistica in Dexter, will offer a variety of handcrafted garden-related merchandise, including pottery, jewelry, garden art, and more.
Proceeds from the 2012 Garden Walk will benefit Growing Hope, an Ypsilanti-based non-profit dedicated to helping people improve their lives and communities through gardening and access to healthy food. Tickets go on sale in May.
Cost: $15.00, group discounts available.

Ann Arbor Restaurant Week
Experience the best of Ann Arbor’s dining scene at affordable prices during Ann Arbor Restaurant Week, June 10-15, 2012. Local chefs will create special three-course dinner menus for only $25 per person and lunch menus for $12 per person. Some casually priced restaurants will offer two for one deals.
$12 Lunch: Each restaurant will create a special set of menu offerings all priced at $12. Restaurants may offer multiple courses, drinks, two for one, or something entirely different. Lunch is an open format, the choice is up to the restaurant.
$25 Dinner: All restaurants will be offering a three course dinner. Some will have a set menu, others will be offering a choice of items for each course, some will be offering two for the price of one.

This year’s Top of the Park free concert series is anchored by 60 musical talents, 8 guest DJs, and 13 feature films. The circus is coming to Leslie Science & Nature Center! Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Zany Umbrella Circus doesn’t have elephants, animals, or three rings. Instead, it uses magic, storytelling, street theater, and visual arts to put on an unforgettable show. For us, they will perform Stories of the Season, a show that celebrates the seasons and the natural world. This interactive performance includes acrobatics on aerial fabric and trapeze, fire juggling, and slack rope walking. It’s a charming, entertaining, unforgettable experience. This is an outside event. Please join us for this fundraising event- all proceeds benefit our environmental education programs.
