Waterloo Recreation Area is the largest park in the Lower Peninsula. At more than 20,000 acres, the park boasts two modern campgrounds, a rustic campground, an equestrian campground, a swimming beach, several picnic sites, 11 excellent fishing lakes, eight boat launches, 12 miles of interpretive nature trails, 47 miles of hiking trails, three rustic cabins, numerous equestrian trails and the Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center.
Directions: Because the park is so large and spread out, finding where you want to go may require some extra time. The park map can be obtained by clicking on the link at the top of this page. Each location described here will refer to a letter/number locator on the park map. Please call the park for additional directions. *Also, you must have a 'recreation passport' for every car that enters the park. A recreation passport is $10.00 per year and is valid at any Michigan State Park. They are available at any Michigan Secretary of State office.

The park is an outdoor space established for dog owners to allow their dogs to legally run off-leash. All users are advised that this dog park is an unsupervised recreational area and users of this facility do so at their own risk.

Swift Run Dog Parks open daily year-round between dawn and dusk unless otherwise posted. Park may be closed in extremely wet conditions or for regular or posted maintenance periods. The park is typically closed for maintenance every Monday morning between 8:30-11:30 am and on Friday afternoon between 12:30-3:00 pm.
